Since July 1, 2022, all newly registered vehicles of categories M1, M2, M3, N1, N2, N3 as well as O3 and O4 in the EU must have a tire pressure monitoring system. From July 1, 2024, this obligation will be extended to all trucks, buses, motorhomes and heavy trailers. This will ensure that vehicles with a gross vehicle weight of over 3.5 tons always have optimum tire pressure, which is good for both safety and efficiency
The role of truck TPMS valves
TPMS valves have a dual function: they serve as an interface between the sensor and the tire and at the same time ensure that the tire can be safely inflated and the pressure checked. When the tire pressure is monitored by a TPMS, the sensors send data to the vehicle display to warn the driver in the event of a loss of pressure. The sensors are usually attached directly to the valve. As truck TPMS valves have to withstand high pressure loads, it is important that they are correctly mounted and bolted to prevent loosening or damage during operation.
