Product information "Safety weight - Typ 261, 15 g, zinc, silver"
Original part Hofmann Power Weights safety weight from: MERCEDES-BENZ The weight sizes 5 and 10 grams are made of plastic (PP). The special clip lifting tools and tyre pressure tongues are required for mounting. Please note that MERCEDES-BENZ safety weights are not permitted on all alloy rims. If adhesive weights are prescribed, adhesive weight 360 must be used. The following combination should be considered: Steel rims: Weight 261 combined with spring M1-Zn (manufacturer's part number: 5812-0191-502). Light alloy rims: Weight 261 combined with spring MA-Zn (manufacturer's part number: 5812-0201-302). Made in GermanyWhy should you balance tyres at all?At a speed of 100 km/h the centrifugal force of a 10 g unbalance acts like the force of a sledge hammer. This makes wheels without balancing weights a danger: Without spoke weights on steel and aluminium rims, wheel suspensions and bearings are subjected to more stress. Missing balancing weights on steel and aluminium rims can also lead to noticeable vibrations at the steering wheel and in the interior. In addition, the absence of spoke weights results in increased brake and tyre wear.Mounting of safety weights:Using the tyre bead breaker tongues, press the tyre at the point where the balancing weight is to be mounted until the rim flange is exposed. Insert the holding spring at the desired point. Remove the tyre impression tongues. This causes the holding spring to be pressed between the rim flange and the tyre and is firmly seated.
