knock-on weight - Typ 80, 20 g, zinc, silver

Product information "knock-on weight - Typ 80, 20 g, zinc, silver"
Zinc weight by WEGMANN automotive with powder coating in silver. The special shape of the weight allows a universal application on almost all light alloy rims. Made in Germany

Why should the tyre be balanced at all when changing tyres?

At a speed of 100 km/h, the centrifugal force of a 10g unbalance acts
like the force of a sledge hammer. This makes tyres without balancing weights a
danger: Knock-on wheel weights for steel rims and balancing weights for alloy wheel rims prevent
higher stress on wheel suspensions and bearings. Missing balancing weights on steel rims
and alloy wheel rims can also
lead to noticeable vibrations on the steering wheel and in the interior. In addition, non-existent knock-on wheel weights on steel rims or alloy wheel rims
result in increased brake and tyre wear.

Mounting of knock-on wheel weights:

First of all, the appropriate knock-on wheel weight for steel rims or alloy wheel rims
must be selected. The balancing weight must fit the rim shape of the motorcycle or car,
whereby a distinction is made between the type of rim and the shape of the rim flange. Then apply
the balancing weight to the rim to check the fit.

Then place the knock-on wheel weight on the required position on the steel rim or
alloy wheel rim. Before hitting the weight, make sure that the clip is correctly positioned on
the rim flange.

Once the weight is correctly aligned, it is struck with a suitable
mounting tool (wheel balancing weight pliers or hammer). For mounting
the knock-on wheel weights, a maximum of two strong blows should be applied. Increasing
the stroke rate can damage the coating of the balancing weights.
